The party embarked on their return journey to Emtor, leaving behind the elusive temple ruins and navigating the challenging terrains that lay ahead. The vast expanse of dunes once again tested their endurance and resolve, as they pressed on through the undulating sands, each step bringing them closer to familiar territory.


As the day progressed, the towering mountains that had marked the end of their initial expedition came into view, signaling their proximity to the regions they had traversed before. With determination, they pushed forward, reaching the base of the mountains as daylight began to wane.


Recognizing the need to continue their progress, the party hiked through the darkness of the night, relying on their collective skills and experience to navigate the rugged terrain. Despite the challenges posed by the nocturnal journey, they remained steadfast, guided by the familiar landmarks that would lead them back to Emtor.


Throughout the day, no significant events or encounters disrupted their journey, allowing them to focus on their return to civilization. As they continued their march under the cover of night, the party remained vigilant, reflecting on their expedition and anticipating their arrival in Emtor, where they would rest, replenish, and recount the tales of their adventure amidst the unpredictable landscapes of Barsoom.

The viral #dungeon23 challenge put forth by Sean McCoy https://seanmccoy.substack.com/p/dungeon23 is coming to an end as of December 31st. For myself and many others it has been apart of our daily lives, one room at a time. It’s gonna feel a little weird on the 1st when that aspect of my morning ritual goes away.  Like I’ve forgotten something, but can’t put a finger on what it was. So, I’ve decided to cobble together a few ideas for a project that will replace #dungeon23. I’m calling it #hexplore24 and I’ll give a “brief" outline of what that’ll entail.  The gist: 1) Exploration of an unknown territory. Grab your favorite hexcrawl generator!! 2) 1:1 time. One actual day = one game day. In other words, there are 366 days and you play one day per day. 3) No mindless “plot following”. There is no regular pre-scripted story. It is a sandbox game. In the embrace of Barsoom’s arid expanse, the rugged mountains rose like ancient titans, their peaks piercing the cerulean skies. Hrul Marak, Ptormed, Haj Uljat, and the enigmatic Khem journeyed through this formidable terrain, their every step resonating with the echoes of a dying world lost to time. From the walled town of Emtor, their sanctuary amidst the hills, the intrepid party ventured forth, guided by the relentless pursuit of discovery that defines this perilous expedition. With each passing hour, the jagged mountains loomed ever larger, their rocky visages a testament to the unforgiving nature of Barsoom’s landscape.
