The original party, bolstered by the addition of Tul Ur Gant, an Ancient Warden skilled in wilderness survival, embarked on a return journey to the temple discovered on their first foray.

As they traversed varied landscapes, moving through hills, dunes, and finally mountains, an unexpected threat emerged in the form of a Chalkor Chree—a fearsome flying predator resembling an enormous vulture with a forked tail and a hauntingly human-like visage. Its eyes were said to hold the horror of death itself, and the creature possessed a bloodcurdling shriek capable of paralyzing those within its range.

Ptormed, armed with his raygun, targeted the Chalkor Chree from a distance of 200 feet, inflicting significant damage. Khem, using his Somnolence power, further crippled the creature, causing it to fall to the earth. However, the resilient predator survived the impact and emitted its paralyzing shriek. Ptormed, Khem, and Tul Ur Gant succumbed to the effect, rendered helpless by the creature's terrifying cry.

Undeterred, Hrul Marak and Haj Uljat pressed on, overcoming the paralyzing effect and engaging in a fierce battle with the Chalkor Chree. While Hrul Marak's pistol proved ineffective, Haj Uljat's blade struck true, bringing a swift end to the encounter with a well-placed blow.

With the immediate threat neutralized, the two unaffected members continued for another hour in the mountains, carrying their paralyzed compatriots. Night had fallen, prompting them to seek refuge in a shallow cave for shelter and recovery from the paralyzation. Fortunately, no additional harm befell the party, and they spent the night regaining their strength, ready to face the challenges that awaited them on the continuing journey to the ancient temple.

Result: The Chalkor Chree attempted to attack the party. Ptormed fired his raygun blasting the creature in the sky, causing significant damage to it. Khem used his Somnolence power on the beast, which fell to the earth, further crippling it. However, it survived the impact and regained consciousness. The Chalkor Chree emitted its paralyzing shriek. Ptormed, Khem, and Tul Ur Gant were rendered helpless. Hrul Marak and Haj Uljat managed to overcome the effect and continued to fight off the vile creature. While Hrul Marak's pistol proved ineffective, Haj Uljat's bkade struck true, ending the battle in a single well-placed blow.

The viral #dungeon23 challenge put forth by Sean McCoy https://seanmccoy.substack.com/p/dungeon23 is coming to an end as of December 31st. For myself and many others it has been apart of our daily lives, one room at a time. It’s gonna feel a little weird on the 1st when that aspect of my morning ritual goes away.  Like I’ve forgotten something, but can’t put a finger on what it was. So, I’ve decided to cobble together a few ideas for a project that will replace #dungeon23. I’m calling it #hexplore24 and I’ll give a “brief" outline of what that’ll entail.  The gist: 1) Exploration of an unknown territory. Grab your favorite hexcrawl generator!! 2) 1:1 time.
